Tips on Using Your Art Mentoring Time:

The mentorship program is created with the intention of bringing value to each individual participant. So each session is unique and self-directed by the mentee.

The mentee should spend some time prior to the session considering what they would most benefit from. Some suggestions to consider are:

  • Questions or advice about working in the arts

  • Guidance with artworks/ portfolios/ websites

  • Feedback on completing a collection/ artwork

About Artist Mentoring

Over three years ago I left my job in corporate marketing to become a full-time Artist. One of the first things I did was add three glyphs to my signature: to challenge, to create, to transform. These symbols and the philosophy that they represent, guide and tether the wide variety of art forms I practice.

I continue to have an explorative, multi-disciplinary practice that includes murals, canvas paintings, digital design, drawing and body art. I thrive from the variety, finding that creativity, ideas, techniques and elements of design transfer fluidly from one art form to another.

With time, I’ve learned to structure my art business and turn what was once a series of moving parts to a cohesive practice, allowing me to move gracefully and intentionally between commissions, workshops and artist talks.

I’ve now enjoyed moderate success as an Artist, having my art shown at museums like the Royal Art Museum, the Ontario Science Centre and the Peel Art Museum and Archives, travelled internationally for paid art gigs, worked for well-known brands and featured on media like Toronto Star, Cp24 and CBC Arts.

I feel lucky to have this career and hope that with this Artist Mentoring program, I can help others take small steps towards their own ambitions around their creative pursuits.
